MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Short Sharp Film Festival aims is to help develop a screen culture for the Coffs Coast region and beyond by providing a creative stepping stone for existing and budding local film makers. The Short Sharp Film Festival encourages the skills and techniques of movie making in all age groups, helping the region’s growing number of movie makers to showcase their talent, gain competition experience and provide exposure to new markets.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Short Sharp Film Festival began in 2007 and was warmly embraced by the local community. The festival is in its fifth year and has grown to include a animation segment due to the success of the short animations included in 2010. The festival will be focusing on "The Sharpies" for 18 years and over and "The Young Guns" competition for 14 - 17 aged films and an animation competition. Entries have been received around from around Australia and the festival screenings attracts over 500 per session with audiences travelling from interstate and beyond.
With prizes now in excess of $6,000, including a $2,000 cash first prize for "The Sharpies", winning film makers have been able to use their cash to go on to produce new films and advance their film careers.
